CAL students prove that they deserve a slot on film making industry after the four of the SiBul 5 finalists made it to ‘The 27th Gawad CCP’s Alternatibong Pelikula at Video’.
Gawad CCP will feature ‘Aba Ginoong Sino?’ of Erwin Tienzo and Jefferson Reyes, ‘Aklayan’ of Myrvic Legazpi, ‘Dagta’ of Lizel Afan and ‘Sarao’ of John Paolo Marquez.
Myrvic Legazpi, director and writer of ‘ Aklayan’, said that everything is unexpected and was shocked after receiving a message on Facebook from Mr. Mell T. Navarro of CCP asking her to pass a trailer of their film that serves as a confirmation that their film passed.
Multimedia Division helps CAL students who have passion and potential on film making to help develop their talent just like what happen to Myrvic who admits that she is a late bloomer in this aspect and SiBul helps her boost her confidence and even help her found her true love — film making. She also said that this pleasure made her want to pursue film making as a profession.
“Nandito ‘yong puso ko. Parang ‘eto lang talaga ‘yong gusto kong gawain kaya siguro in the future baka mai-pursue din natin. ‘Di natin alam”, Myrvic said.
On the other hand, John Paolo Marquez of Sarao gave it a try after being informed by the Multimedia Divison and their instructor about the said activity.
“MD ‘yong nag-inform sa’min na may Gawad CCP pero ako mismo ‘yong nag-process at nag-submit ng film entry namin sa CCP. Nalaman ko rin ‘yong details kay Sir Mark Mirabuenos sa klase namin sa kanya.” John Paolo said.
Meanwhile, Sibul Co-Director Bea Velasco believed that these recognitions are pride of the college and inspiration to its students.
“Personally, nakikita ko to as beneficial sa mga CAL students dahil naiaangat nito yung moral and identity nila bilang BulSU-CAL student. Pwede nilang sabihin sa sarili nila na yes, kahit nasa provincial state u tayo, kaya nating makipagsabayan sa mga estudyante ng mga top schools na nagaaspire din na ipakita yung craft nila through film competitions. And ang MD naman ay laging nandyan para mag support at magsupplement ng mga bagong kaalaman sa field ng media. We stand by doon sa tatlong goals ng aming organization: Think, Execute, Inspire, and doon sa Inspire, para yun sa mga kamaskom natin”, she said.
‘Aba Ginoong Sino’ and ‘Dagta’ will be having a free screening this August 8, Saturday, 10:00 in the morning at CCP Dream Theater, Tanghalang Manuel Conde, while ‘Dagta’ will have its free screening on the same date and place at 12:45 in the afternoon and ‘Sarao’ on August 9, 12:45 in the afternoon also at the CCP Dream Theater.
